From December 5 to 6, the 2024 (14th) International Aviation Industry Conference was successfully held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, under the theme “Promoting the Construction of a Modern Industrial Chain and Enhancing the Efficiency of Quality Infrastructure.” The conference was co-hosted by the Shanghai Society of Aeronautics and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), and jointly organized by NCS Testing Technology Co., Ltd., the Performance Review Institute (PRI), and Shanghai Guangyao Aviation Enterprise Consulting Services Co., Ltd. The conference focused on topics such as quality management, the development of the aviation industrial chain, the reliability of large aircraft, aviation metrology and testing, aircraft testing and validation, and aviation Prognostics and Health Management (PHM).

Zhang Xiuxin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of NCS Testing Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to attend the conference and chaired the afternoon session on December 5.

Gao Yifei, Deputy Director of the NCS Research Institute, delivered a keynote report titled “Characterization of Creep-Fatigue Crack Growth Performance and Oxidation Damage Analysis of Nickel-Based Superalloys” at the conference forum. The report explained the creep-fatigue crack growth performance and oxidation damage issues of the GH4169 superalloy in high-temperature environments. The study found that intergranular phases can enhance deformation capability and prevent oxidation, leading to a significant increase in crack growth rate over time for directly aged GH4169 alloys, while standard heat-treated GH4169 alloys exhibited ductile fracture. Through transient tests, a relationship between the size of the oxidation damage zone, the stress intensity factor, and the hold time was established, and a predictive model was proposed. The study also explained the critical conditions for crack growth under different loading conditions from an energy perspective.

Zhong Zhenqian, Deputy General Manager of NCS Beijing Testing, delivered a keynote report titled “Aviation Material Testing and Failure Case Analysis” at the aircraft testing and validation sub-forum. The report introduced important tests and failure cases related to aviation materials, discussing hydrogen embrittlement and fatigue verification tests of aviation materials, and the significance of their reliability performance under special conditions. It provided a basis for the optimization and safe use of materials. The report also detailed failure cases of engine blades, including high-temperature, fatigue, and corrosion failures, offering valuable reference experiences for material research, design improvements, and maintenance in the aviation field.

The two-day conference featured reports from experts and scholars from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Equipment Engineering Research Institute, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Airworthiness Certification Center, Airbus China Research and Innovation Center, COMAC, the China Aircraft Strength Research Institute, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beihang University, Honeywell Aerospace, and other institutions. A total of 52 keynote speeches were delivered, attracting participation from over 140 companies. More than 300 representatives from quality departments, information technology departments, procurement departments, manufacturing engineering departments, supply chain management departments, metrology and testing, and testing and validation units of aircraft manufacturers, aircraft systems, and aircraft component production units attended the conference.
